It’s that time of year again! On July 14th the tenth annual David Gemmell Legend Awards will be held at Edge-Lit 7 in Derby, UK. The ceremony recognises and rewards outstanding achievements in fantasy fiction, as well as commemorating the legacy of David Gemmell and his contribution to the genre.

The Ravenheart Award (Best Cover Art)

Since their establishment in 2009 the awards have been presented to a succession of extremely talented authors, including Brandon Sanderson, Patrick Rothfuss, Helen Lowe, Brent Weeks, John Gwynne, Mark Lawrence, Megan E. O’Keefe, Gav Thorpe and Andrzej Sapkowski. You can read a bit more about this year’s awards here.

The awards fall into three categories:

The Ravenheart award for Best Cover Art
The Morningstar award for Best Debut
The Legend award for Best Novel

The longlists are now open for voting, and will remain so until noon on Friday 30th March. So if you’re keen to see some of your favourite books from 2017 make it to the shortlists (which will open on 20th April) then GET VOTING!

From the Gemmell Awards’ official website:

The shortlists will be published and voting opened at noon (GMT) on Friday 20th April. Voting on the shortlists will close at midnight (GMT) on Friday 1st June.

The winners will be announced, and the trophies presented, at a ceremony as part of Edge-Lit 7 in Derby, UK, on the evening of Saturday 14th July.

Details of Edge-Lit and the venue are here.

The awards’ official Facebook page is here.
