Fundraiser Roundup: BOOKS FOR SYRIA AND TURKIYE
Here at the Hive, we were shocked and saddened, along with the rest of the world, by the devastation in Turkiye and Syria following the two earthquakes that struck on 6th February.
The estimated loss of life currently stands at over 21 thousand people. Thousands of people have lost their homes in areas that have already been under the strain of years of civil war.
Many organisations have started working together to raise funds and offer aid. One such is a Book Auction being organised on 32 Auctions. Many authors, agents and editors have come together to put special editions, signed editions or offer their professional services up for auction with all proceeds going to LaunchGood’s campaign to support Turkiye and Syria through Mercy-USA. Winning bids will be asked to submit proof of donation to LaunchGood Mercy-USA.
Fantasy authors, including Shannon Chakraborty, Fonda Lee, Samantha Shannon, Rebecca Kuang, Andrea Stewart, Kalynn Bayron, Vaishnavi Patel, Hannah Whitten, Aparna Verma, Martha Wells, Alix E Harrow and many more have their books up for auction.
We were so moved by the SFF community’s call for aid that we wanted to do what we can in spreading the word, so below are links to a selection of SFF books you can bid on and contact details for authors, agents or editors who may want to donate items for auction.
Email booksforturkiyeandsyria@gmail.com to donate items for auction. Follow us on Instagram @booksforturkiyeandsyria to keep up with this cause. Or on Twitter @booksTurkSyr
Visit Books For Syria and Turkiye to view the full list of items up for auction.
At time of writing, there are 280 items with more being added up until 13th February. Bidding ends 16th February.
We’re sharing books we think our readers may enjoy for the SFF connection but please please check out the range of items – there’s a great deal of professional services available for writers.
