And – the bit you’ve been waiting for! – the cover itself:
Magefall looks and sounds positively epic. But if you’re not already convinced, here’s what Stephen himself had to say about the book!
“The first book in the series, Mageborn, introduced readers to several familiar faces from the first trilogy, Balfruss, Tammy and Munroe, plus three new young characters, Wren, Tianne and Danoph, who were just finding their feet in the Red Tower and the world of magic.
In Magefall we see the younger characters forced to strike out on their own, make decisions without protection and live with the consequences of their actions. There’s no paddling pool. It’s all deep end! More than ever magic is still seen as something that is inherently evil and dangerous, but the young characters know different. While they are desperate to prove its worth and value, other groups seem intent on destroying all magic forever or manipulating it for their own ends. Expectations are challenged and perceptions altered as characters beliefs are undermined.
Meanwhile Balfruss is struggling to find his purpose and place in a world that doesn’t want him but he has responsibilities that cannot be ignored. Always an impetuous character, Munroe, must learn patience in her quest for vengeance forcing her to make some unusual alliances. And Tammy has to adjust to her new role while managing as several ongoing crises forcing her to make some difficult and irreversible decisions.
The book is all about growing, for all of the characters, as they have to adapt to changing and challenging circumstances. Even the older, more experienced characters, find themselves questioning their beliefs and place in the world in the face of disturbing new events.
As ever this book is fast-paced and packed with action so hold on to the seat of your pants!”
Magefall will be published by Orbit Books on September 6th, 2018
