The Lightbringer Series – REREAD
In anticipation for release of The Burning White – the fifth and final instalment in Brent Weeks’ incredible Lightbringer series – the team at Orbit have organised a reread of the first four books in series. There’s even a countdown!
The Black Prism, The Blinding Knife and The Broken Eye have already been reread by fantastic fantasy reviewers (more details below). This leaves The Blood Mirror, the fourth and final book before The Burning White, which I am rereading for the Hive!
I won’t start talking about the book here for fear of spoilers, but being book 4 of 5, The Blood Mirror is all about setting things up for the finale. All the pieces are in play, and it’s still anyone’s game as the players plot to move into ‘checkmate’. Think: Avengers Infinity War. But with more Doctor Strange style sorcery in the form of drafting – one of the most unique magic systems I have ever had the joy of reading.
Recap on the reread so far:
Booktuber Daniel Greene kicked off the reread in June with The Black Prism. He even posted his thoughts on the Lightbringer series as a whole, and why you should read it.
Next up were our good friends over at The Fantasy Inn, who took on The Blinding Knife in July. Their review at the end of the month was equally amazing, and reminds readers of just how brilliant these books are – with an added shout out for the audio versions!
Kitty G took on The Broken Eye in August, and she posted her thoughts on Twitter as she went.
You can catch up on the rest of the excitement on Twitter by checking out the hashtag #LightbringerSeriesReRead, which I will also be using as I make my way through The Blood Mirror. As of writing this, there’s only 37 days left until the release of the The Burning White so please forgive me if I make this post short – I have reading to do!
Whether you are reading the series for the first time, or rereading, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Also, don’t forget to add the books to your Goodreads.
The Burning White is due to be released in October, and The Fantasy Inn were kind enough to put together a list of links where you can pre-order it from!
