We’re absolutely thrilled to reveal the amazing cover for LEGACY OF LIGHT, the spectacular conclusion to Matthew Ward’s legacy trilogy which is due for release on 19th August 2021 by Orbit.

Here’s what Matthew had to say about the cover:

Well, isn’t that a lovely piece of artwork? Yes. Yes it is.

Each new cover for the Legacy Trilogy (as I guess we can now call it without a cagey note of optimism) is somehow better than the last, and that’s a wonderful place to be. I’m actually tempted to write a fourth book now, just so we can see the cover artists Larry Rostant and Charlotte Stroomer somehow surpass this latest offering. If Douglas Adams can have a trilogy of five books, I can have a trilogy of four, right?

I’m sure it’ll be fine.

But anyway … what a splendid design to serve as herald to Legacy of Light’s arrival next year. What can it tell us about the book? (In a non-spoilery way, of course.)

Well, no surprises that the tale’s all about darkness and light. Or possibly the Dark and the Light, if you prefer. The past, always a burden, is about to catch up with our characters in a big way. Promises have been given, bargains sealed and choices made. The line between selfishness and righteousness has never been so thin, and peace never so fragile. Bonds will be broken, and others reforged.

Oh, and of course there’s the odd simarka lurking around, because everything’s better with cats.

All sounds terribly portentous, doesn’t it? Well, that’s the thing with trying to avoid spoilers – it makes anything sound like prophecy. Rest assured that your favourite characters are back … though I can’t promise sunbeams and happiness for everyone. Life just doesn’t work like that. All you can do is make your moment count, and they’ll certainly do that.

The final chapter of the Legacy Trilogy is on the horizon, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
