My Current Fantasy TBR – GUEST POST by K. A. Linde (THE RAVEN AT THE ASH DOOR)

A second Monster War is on the horizon . . .

From bestselling author K. A. Linde, The Raven at the Ash Door is the heart-stopping third book in this addictive dark romantasy series, following The Robin on the Oak Throne. Perfect for fans of V. E. Schwab and Leigh Bardugo.

Kierse McKenna’s magic is bound to a man she hates-one who has spent lifetimes fighting the man she loves.

To end this binding, Graves-her winter god, her monster-will stop at nothing. He discovers that the only hope of freeing Kierse is to locate a stone relic of legend, rumored to lift any curse.

The only problem? The stone has been missing for a century.

And the Oak King is on their trail.

Now Kierse is trapped at the heart of a centuries-long battle while the rest of the world comes unraveled. The Fae Killer is hunting. The peace with monsters is fracturing. And as the very rules of their myth start to shift, escaping the Oak King’s hold may demand more than stolen artifacts and clever heists.

For Kierse and Graves, it may mean risking the only thing they have left to lose.

Current Fantasy TBR

by K.A. Linde

My TBR is currently out of control. There are so many incredible books by authors I love and admire that have released or are releasing soon that I can’t wait to dig into. Here are a few at the top of the pile:

Victorious by V.E. Schwab – Forever at the top of my list! I’ve been a massive Villans fan since Vicious released many moons ago. I love the comic book storytelling, the non-linear story lines, and that everyone is morally grey (black?). Victor Vale is top tier problematic heroes.

Mayhem & the Mortal by Shanora Williams – Shanora has such a solid voice for characters. I can’t wait to see how this enemies to lovers story plays out in her new series about a girl who sets out to save her sister via a magic assassin guide. I’m hoping for SPICE.

The Lion & the Deathless Dark by Carissa Broadbent – Speaking of spice, Carissa guarantees and always delivers. I’ve also been a long fan of her Crowns of Nyaxia series and have been waiting for Septimus since his first appearance. I knew he was going to be my kind of heartless hero.

Daggerbound by T. Kingfisher – I went on a bit of a binge of all of Kingfisher’s books last year and devoured her entire catalogue. I think this series is her most romance forward, but honestly, who can’t resist swords who turn into hot bodyguard heroes? I certainly could not.

The Witch Below the Dreaming Wood by H.G. Parry – Parry writes it? I’ll read it. I love that I can feel her academic background in every book. They’re so clever, cunning, witty, and unputdownable. My absolute favorite is The Scholar and the Last Faerie Door. And I’m can’t wait to dive into her take on the Arthurian legend.

As We Fall Through Time by Claire North – North has such a clear and compelling, original voice. I fell hard for The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August and an excited for her latest time travel story.

Verity Guild by Mai Corland – The Roman Empire is my Roman Empire and Mai Corland’s background is set around that. So I just know she’s going to do incredible things in this murder mystery set against the backdrop of her dreams.

Reap & Sow by Charlotte B Plumb – This debut promises for fans of Rachel Gillig, which is always an easy sell to me. Also it’s about a demon deal and then falling in love with the demon. Hook, line, and sinker.

Villain by Natalie Zina Walschots – A follow up to her much lauded novel Hench, which followed a girl who was the assistant to a supervillain. It released before Assistant to the Villain but has a similar (though darker) tone. I can’t wait for this one where she becomes the villain!

A Long and Speaking Silence by Nghi Vo – The Singing Hills series is my comfort read. Each book follows a cleric and their bird, who remembers everything they hear, as they write down all the local legends to catalogue the stories. This one goes back in time to when they first became a cleric and the trials as they attempt to get their feet under them.

And always, of course, if you’re interested in my latest, The Raven at the Ash Door by K.A. Linde. There’s heists, magic, spice, and a post-Monster War NYC, where monsters and humans have to live together and hopefully not kill each other. It follows Kierse who steals from the wrong monster, only for him to say you work for me now instead of killing her. Plus, he has a library and knows how to use it.
